* My back is feeling so much better because of your care.
- Great bed side manners
The doctor refused to treat
- patience - she did not rush in/rush out of my room
Last week I went into the hospital due to an accident I was involved in. The admission staff was decent, my nurse Alisa was great and the PA was phenomenal. I was given a doctors note to be out of work for a few days. However I missed placed it. I called this morning asking if they kept a copy and if it was possible for them to fax the note over. Jason, I am assuming he is a nurse was absolutely extremely rude! I told him I misplaced it and need one faxed over if they kept a copy in my records. He says to me "why you don't have a copy?" I already told him I misplaced it. Then I asked if they have a copy in my chart he says "it won't be singned and I won't sign it for you." Not once did I ask him to sign anything I simply asked for a copy. I told him the reason why I need it was because I needed to send it to the insurance adjustor whom will be compensating me for my lost wages due to the accident. He then says to me "you need to ask your lawyer." Jason was very rude this morning. He had no sympathy to a patient who called with concerns!
- allowed me to review options of care
Should have a negative rating i could give.Nurses were amazing and treated me with genuine care and concern, even after the PA began treating me with what I can only describe as disdain and rudeness. I went in for a headache that started 3 days ago, but after 3 long very painful days the headache would not go away, I tried ibuprofen, Tylenol, ice & every homemade remedy that I could possibly think of... and none of them worked. after having multiple tests, one of which they wanted to be a contrast ct, but to do so they needed a better IV, 10 pokes later they said they couldn't do the test because they were unable to get a larger IV in place. All this time I am laying in the bed bawling my eyes out, in such excruciating pain, by this time they have tried giving me torredol, adavan, zofran, benedryl and promethazine, none of which worked, and I begged the PA to please give me something to ease the pain in my head even just a little, cause three days of that pain had drained me and i couldn't take it anymore, at this point I just wanted some relief, just the slightest bit, he proceeded to tell me that he had given me everything they could and that the only things left they could give me were narcotics, and they wouldn't give those for a headache. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I asked him what I was suppose to do, how could I get the pain to stop, i had tried everything i know how to do and only went to the ER when I had no other choice because the pain had become unbearable, and here was this doctor sitting in front of me telling me they had more options to help me but refused to do so, because they don't give narcotics for "just a headache"!!! I was absolutely sickened and enraged. i wasn't asking them to give me something to take home I only wanted some relief from the pain that had become unbearable, to the point I seriously thought about slamming my head into the nearest wall in hopes it would knock me unconscious so i could have some sort of relief from it. and because of other people who go to ERs "drug seeking" they refused to treat a patient who was truly in excruciating pain and truly needed their help, i didn't go in for no reason, I wasn't there for fun, and after all other courses of action had been exhausted I politely asked for something to just ease it in the slightest, something to give the slightest relief, and I was treated as if I were some drug seeking junkie and it angers me even my nurse begged the doctor to give me something and told him you could clearly see how much pain i was in and there had to be something they could give me to help and he still refused. I am not some pill popping junkie or drug seeking person. I only wanted to know why I was in so much pain and how to stop it, even when he said he wanted to do put a needle in my back and do a lumbar puncture, I agreed to it because all i wanted were answers and just a little relief of the pain. But that wasnt apparently something he was willing to do. on the board in the room, it states that their goal is pain control and they want to help you feel better. that to me is all a lie. i understand the current situation with the opioid epidemic that is currently a major problem, but when a medical student (me) or any other hard working man or woman cannot even get the help she desperately needs because they put a blanket policy in place and just run with it, something is wrong. They take an oath to first do no harm, how is that possible when they refuse to help a patient in need?? I understand not wanting to write prescriptions to people for "just a headache" but to refuse to do whatever it may take to help them while they are in the hospitals care and not listening to the nurses request to help their patient is absolutely wrong and sickening. so here I sit writing a review with head feeling like its going to explode, and wishing it would just slow to a low roar, but feeling that it doesn't matter because asking for help does nothing anyway so whats the point....Will NEVER go here again even if my life depended on it, I would refuse.
Went in with the full blown FLU as a new patient. I was expecting decent service like the one in Hampton.
Physicians Assistant Kodi:
* This was my best experience at any ER in this area.
- great listener
Sentara ER's apparently gotten much better since last time I visited. I was in and out in well under an hour. The entire process seems way more efficient than it used to be. The doctor I spoke to, who's name I forget but he was a younger guy, was one of the most knowledgeable doctors I've ever spoke to. Every question and concern I had for him he had an answer for off the top of his head as well as a detailed explanation, so I walked in with a lot of worries and left with none.
- very calm
- asked pertinent questions
- caring
Thanks you so much P.A. Kodi!! Kindly, L. Gordon
* I am not the one to leave comments...but I felt lead to do so regarding P.A. Kodi.
